Landscape Photography by Bob Warren
Exploring the Landscape through High Dynamic Range Photograph
In landscape photography, we are most interested in the natural formations of the land: its lines, curves, reflections, clouds, and, most importantly, light. Composition and light are two of the main ingredients of landscape photography.
As an active and long-time member of the Mississauga Camera Club, my passion is landscape photography with a special interest in High Dynamic Range photography. In HDR photography, multiple exposures of a scene are captured at different exposure levels and blended together using dedicated software. This blending compensates for the great range between the lightest and darkest areas of a scene that the human eye can see but the camera can’t.
We will explore my photography, with scenes from many countries and locales, all of which have been produced using HDR techniques. I will also briefly explain my equipment, camera settings and composition settings, such as the “rule of thirds”.
Originally from Montreal where I began my teaching career, we moved to Mississauga in the great anglo migration of the 1970s. I enjoyed my entire career as a high school English teacher and eventually English Department Head. As a member of the Mississauga Camera Club, I have served, and continue to do so, in a variety of positions over the years. I am now an enthusiastic and dedicated amateur photographer and enjoy sharing and discussing this dynamic art form.
