Looking Up Our Family Tree

Tracing family roots back through generations can help a person connect more deeply with a sense of self by learning about their family’s past.  Whether your ancestors were politicians, soldiers, settlers or servants, they lived the action and passion of their times, but, how does one go about “Looking up our family tree” to discover who our ancestors were.

Our own Probus club member Saskia Wijngaard has been studying genealogy since she was 16. And now she is offering us a wonderful opportunity by launching the “LOOKING UP OUR FAMILY TREE” event.  Whether your new to traveling on this genealogy road of discovery, OR perhaps have already travelled down this road but have reached a dead end, Saskia is here to guide you.

WHEN:  THURSDAY JUNE 19  2025

TIME:  8:55 AM:   Meet on platform of Clarkson GO station (for 9:08 train)

   10-15 – 12:15 Research:  Meet Saskia at Toronto Reference Library, 789 Young St. Toronto

   12:30:   LUNCH:  Jack Astors (NE corner Young and Bloor) 7 min. walk from Library

Post lunch you can:  return to the library to resume research OR return home on the Go Train.
