About Us

PROBUS Club of Mississauga Centre

Our Club is a Chapter of PROBUS CANADA, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mississauga. You will find more details at http://www.PROBUS.org/Canada.

Today, there are over 300,000 members in approximately 4,000 PROBUS Clubs worldwide.   PROBUS Clubs are not service organizations and are non-sectarian and non-political. Their purpose is to provide a social network for professional and business retirees with similar interests.

The PROBUS Club of Mississauga Centre was launched in April 1996.  We are a mixed club with a membership of approximately 180 men and women.  New members are generally welcomed as couples and are sponsored by existing members. Our Club is known for its active membership enjoying an abundance and variety of social activities.  Activities are held either weekly, bi-monthly, monthly and/or from time-to-time. These include: Art Hop, Book Clubs, Bowling, Golf, Bridge, Euchre, Mahjong, Investment Club, Wine Pods, and Beer Tasting.

Each month a General Meeting with a guest speaker is held on the second Thursday of the month.  In addition, a Special Event is offered, e.g. theatre, museum visit, car rally.  A Restaurant Dinner is organized monthly – an excellent way to explore the culinary offerings in our community and be involved in stimulating, light-hearted conversation.

These Activities and Events, as well as, the Management of the Club require approximately 80 volunteers who head, or are members of, the various Committees.  Being a club Member offers the opportunity to volunteer and contribute to the health and well-being of our Club.  All of the above is organized with one focus – to provide opportunities for fellowship and fun.
